Artist Bio
Gillian Alexandra Harwin has been singing since she was born. She was immediately drawn to and moved by music. Her mother recalls her humming the melodies from under the church pew at church on Sundays at just 3 years old. At 4 years old, she would weep when she heard the sad melody of the song “Feelings” on the family's old Wurlitzer player piano. And at 6, her debut living room rendition of “The Rainbow Connection” solidified her love of performing and at 7 years old she declared in ink in her diary, “I want to be a singer!”.

After fifteen years teaching and performing in New York City, successfully running her own music practice with +/-30 students a week from ages 2-82, and being involved in many different projects from cabaret, bandleading her own project Reverse Double Clutch and The Bumpers, and she decided to go to Valencia, Spain in August of 2019 and get a Master's Degree in Contemporary Performance and Production at the Berklee College of Music. After graduating, she decided to stay in Valencia and has been releasing new music and working on exciting creative projects.

Fast forward a handful of decades and not only did Gillian become a singer, but she also became a multi-instrumentalist , songwriter, educator, producer, linguist, world traveler, sailor, juggler, musical sawyer, artist, puppeteer, community builder, stand up comedian, MC, long distance backpacker, dancer, advocate for the vision imparied and underrepresented people in the arts, nature lover, yogi, forever student of life, goddess of the earth mother and peace warrior.
In her 20s, Gillian traveled the world on foot and by sea and eventually graduated with a degree in Classical Voice and Jazz from UCSB. In her 30's she packed up her bass and some clothes and moved to New York City to study with the greats and participate in and win Amatuer Night at the world famous Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY.
While in Spain, she has released Higher Standart, an album of Jazz Standards recorded with a stellar international band in dedication to the great songwriters of the Jazz and Swing era. Gillian has collaborated internationally with a variety of diverse artists on a wide range of projects and continues to create, educate and perform locally and internationally.
